The Ministry of Social Solidarity, in collaboration with WFP, has organized extensive training to build the capacity of female social leaders in the area of maternal and child nutrition, within the framework of the first 1,000 days of child life programme.

Prof. Hanan Mustafa, President Central Department for Family and Women AffairsThe first 1,000-day programme is aimed at the most critical stages in shaping child growth and building human beings, focusing on supporting the beneficiaries of a symbiotic programme by providing additional cash transfers from the beginning of pregnancy to the attainment of two years for children, thus contributing to the improvement of healthy nutritional patterns of children, reducing psychological pressures on mothers and supporting healthy child development at this critical stage.

Mustafa added that training aimed to increase the capacity of female social leaders to transmit simplified outreach messages to mothers and families within communities, and to promote healthy health and nutrition practices during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which positively reflected maternal and child health and contributed to the prevention of malnutrition and stress problems.

The programme ' s implementation in the context of strengthening the role of social leaders in raising community awareness of the importance of the first 1,000 days in the child ' s life is crucial in building the child ' s health, nutrition and psychological foundation, its direct impact on the child ' s physical and mental development and its future learning and production capacity, as well as its central role in preventing the problems of malnutrition and erosion.

It should be noted that the first 1,000-day programme in the child ' s life is one of the mechanisms to improve the nutrition status of pregnant women, nursing mothers and infants from the mother-to-child-age stage in two years of age, promoting the cognitive and physical development of children and protecting them from the effects of malnutrition, including stunting, stimulus and underweight. The programme serves approximately 60,000 women per month, benefiting from a stimulus and dignity programme.

The first phase of the training has seen significant results, with 5707 social leaders trained in 14 governorates of the 1,000-day programme in children ' s lives, in cooperation between the Ministry and the World Food Programme (WFP), which has developed and implemented the training content in accordance with the international standards adopted.
