The Journalists ' Union, through its Cultural and Technical Committee, announces the launch of a new annual award for journalists and language revisers in newspapers and press sites of £50,000, with the name of «Muhammad al-Sharkh Award for Correctors and Language References» With newspapers and press sites.
Mahmoud Kamel, member of the Trade Union Council, Chairman of the Cultural and Technical Committee, confirmed that the Award was awarded on the nominations of press institutions, newspapers and press sites, as well as the candidatures of the Association of Auditors, and individuals were allowed to stand for the Award in person, with all applications for nominations including the grounds for nominations, as provided by the candidate for the profession and Arabic language service.
The Trade Union Council shall establish a committee to examine all nominations and select the winner each year.
He fully added that the Cultural and Technical Commission had succeeded in providing the necessary care for the Award, ensuring that it continued annually, with the commendable efforts of the journalist Ibrahim David.
He also fully indicated that the Committee would announce the date for the award to be received by the next September.
The award bears the name of the late Kuwaiti custodian Muhammad al-Sharkh, one of the most outstanding contributors to cultural support, the protection of Arabic from dust waves, thanks to the introduction of Arabic to computers for the first time during the 1980s, the production of the first computer software for the Holy Quran and the nine English-language speeches.
