Eight Arab and Islamic States condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli escalation in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in particular the continued intrusion into settlers under the protection of the Israeli police.
This was reflected in a joint statement by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Jordan, the Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The Ministers stressed that these escalations and unacceptable acts constitute a flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions and the historical and legal status quo in the holy places in occupied East Jerusalem.
They cautioned that such provocative acts fuel hatred and extremism and impede efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace on the basis of a two-State solution.
The Ministers stressed that Israel " has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy places " and affirmed their categorical rejection of any attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy places.
They called upon Israel, as the occupying Power, to immediately lift restrictions on access to the Old City of Jerusalem and to refrain from obstructing the access of worshippers to the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Thousands of settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque today in the middle of a high-security Israeli police, in response to calls by Israeli right-wing groups on the anniversary of the so-called " destruction of the structure " .
Israeli National Security Minister Itmar Ben Guvere and Knesset member participated in the Alekwood (Jordan) party in the break-in of Al-Aqsa, which raised the Israeli flag in front of the Rock.
