The General Union of Doctors addressed Dr. Khalid Abdel Ghafar, Minister of Health and Population, for the prompt announcement of the outcome of the 2026 Basic Physicians Movement, stressing that the Movement was experiencing unprecedented delays, despite the closure of its progress since Sunday, 7 June 2026.
In its address, the trade union indicated that this delay was a matter of concern for doctors, especially after the recent delays in the procedure of the commissioning and the resulting difficulties in the receipt of their commissioners by some doctors.
The Rapporteur of the Youth Committee of the General Union of Doctors, Mr. Ahmed, said that the continued delay in advertising the movement of women nurses had many negative effects, including the late receipt by doctors of their new employers, the delay or loss of opportunities for registration with Egyptian fellowship programmes, as well as the disruption of the training and career path of a large segment of the young doctors, which adversely affected their professional stability and regular work within health facilities.
He noted that during the past period, the union had reached out to the officials of the Movement of Women Prosecutors to identify the reasons for the delay and the speed of completion of the proceedings, but that such attempts had not yet resulted in a declaration of movement or clarification of the reasons for the delay.
He appealed to the Minister of Health and Population to issue his directives quickly to proclaim the movement of basic doctors ' offices, in order to safeguard the rights of doctors and ensure the regular functioning of the work, calling for the competent departments to quickly complete and review the results of the commissioning and prosecution movements during future periods, and to observe the usual dates established by the Ministry over the past years, thereby preventing further delays.
