Dr. Abdul Rahman Mustafa, Rapporteur of the Conference of Medical Trade Unions 2026 and the Secretary of therapeutic Tourism Meeting, confirmed that health tourism was a national undertaking that had been prepared, could yield a return from the hard currency that might exceed the revenues of the Suez Canal if the State ' s assets were invested and placed on the global remedial tourism map.
During his speech at the therapy session, Mustafa explained that Egypt had a strong competitive advantage in this area, namely, providing quality medical services comparable to global levels and often superior to them, at a cost not exceeding one third of world average prices, which gave them a great opportunity to attract patients from different countries of the world.
He noted that the size of the global curative tourism economy was estimated at hundreds of billions of dollars per year, stressing that Egypt had all the qualities to obtain a large share of the market, with its distinct geographical location, an appropriate climate and diverse tourist features, as well as the development of many medical institutions.
The success of therapeutic tourism depended not only on the quality and competitive price of medical service, but also on an integrated marketing and promotion system. One of the most important reasons for Egypt ' s delay in that file was the absence of a single international marketing authority for therapeutic tourism.
He also noted that the establishment of the National Health Tourism Council less than a year ago was an important step towards building an integrated institutional system, but Egypt still needed to accelerate action to take advantage of its great potential in that area and turn it into a major source of support for the national economy and increase the State ' s foreign exchange earnings.
