The United States Embassy in Cairo hosted a major conference entitled «Silicon Valley to Nile Valley: American Forum on Innovation and Synthetic Smart»With the participation of some 200 Egyptian government officials, leaders of the technology sector, business leaders, investors and innovators, with a view to highlighting American leadership in advanced techniques and promoting cooperation between the United States and Egypt in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital information, cloud computing, financial technology and emerging techniques.
The Forum included introductory statements by the Chargé d ' affaires of the American Ambassador to Egypt, Robert Silverman, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce of the United States for Industry and Analysis, Stephen Haynes, as well as an address by Mahmoud Badoui, Assistant Secretary of Communications and Information Technology for Digital Transformation.
The United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Lando also addressed a video-recorded speech from Washington, D.C.
The Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Stephen Haynes, said in his keynote address: the United States is committed to working with Egypt to unleash the enormous potential of artificial intelligence and digital innovation; United States companies are the world leader in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, semiconductors, cybersecurity and digital services.
We look forward to Egyptian innovators and companies benefiting from these techniques through partnerships based on transparency, innovation and trust.
Together, we can strengthen our economic relations, accelerate innovation and contribute to a more prosperous digital future.
For his part, the Chargé d ' affaires of Ambassador Robert Silverman said in his opening address: the United States and Egypt are building a technological partnership for the future. The Silicon Valley Forum embodies the best possible partnership of our two countries by combining American innovation with Egyptian talents and aspirations and creating new opportunities for economic growth in both countries.
The Forum highlighted the leadership of the United States in the areas of artificial intelligence and digital innovation, reviewed opportunities for expanding trade partnerships, promoting the use of reliable technology and supporting digital transformation efforts in Egypt through cooperation with American companies.
Participants were briefed by the United States Chamber of Commerce in Cairo and several major United States technology companies, including Microsoft, Cisco and Dale, and participated in specialized panel discussions led by selected leading technological companies in Egypt and the United States.
Expanding bilateral trade
The Forum affirmed the commitment of the United States to expand bilateral trade in goods and services between the United States and Egypt through enhanced cooperation in the area of artificial intelligence and other advanced techniques. It also highlighted the efforts of the United States to promote the reliable use of artificial intelligence at the international level through partnerships that support innovation, provide economic opportunities and promote the building of secure digital systems, linking business leaders and Egyptian companies to United States technology and global experiences and markets.
