The United States Embassy in Cairo celebrated the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America during a ceremony hosted by Chargé d ' affaires Robert Silverman at the United States University campus in Cairo in the field of liberation on 4 June 2026.
The ceremony brought together a number of Egyptian ministers, governors, senior officials and diplomats, together with business leaders, religious figures, artists and friends of the United States, to celebrate the centuries and a half of American innovation and democracy, and to emphasize the partnership between the United States and Egypt. This event is part of a series of events organized by the United States Embassy in Cairo over 2026, to celebrate people, achievements and partnerships with the story of Egypt.
In his address, the Chargé d ' affaires Robert Silverman commended the achievements of a number of prominent Egyptian Americans who attended the ceremony, including:
• Zaki Abdul Fatah, athlete and instructor
• Rami Adeb, Founder of the "1984 Ventures"
• Shareen Ahmad, Matarbah and a representative
• Mohamed Amin, First Investigator, New York City Police
• Maurice Nessim Foundation
• Najib Sawers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orascom Investment Holding Company
• George Salim, United States Navy reserve naval provider
Throughout the evening, the audience enjoyed music, American chocolates, recreational games and artificial intelligence-supported cameras, which allowed guests to appear in sights from prominent stations in American history, in a spirit of 1776.
