Ambassador Jورrgen Schulz, Ambassador Federal Republic of Germany In Egypt today honor the three winners of the competition «Cairo Climate Change Forum» The ceremony was held at the Embassy Park in recognition of their outstanding work on the importance of protecting the environment and climate change and their contribution to raising awareness of these important issues.
• He won first prize in the print press category Ahmed Maher Abou El Nasr, from Al Watan newspaper, for his article on the problem of illegal trade of contaminated food oils in Egypt.
• She won the first prize in the category of electronic media Salwa Zoghbi, from Al-Watan newspaper, for her article on the phenomenon of «Climate Concern»Not only about their impact on women and youth, but also about the creative and innovative ways in which these groups deal with this concern.
• The special award went to Dina Shaaban for her meetings with Egyptian and international representatives from the climate sector.

You journalists play an indispensable role in understanding and clarifying the impact of climate change on people in Egypt and their livelihoods.
I would like to commend you all for your commitment. You are doing a very important job, and I encourage you and your news organizations to continue to cover these issues here in Egypt openly, critically and constructively.
Outstanding work
As the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany supports these issues, we have decided since 2020 to highlight the outstanding work of Egyptian journalists writing on environmental topics by awarding the Cairo Climate Change Forum Award for Environmental Journalism annually. In addition, a workshop for professional journalists in the field of "Climate Storytelling" was held before the award ceremony.

The three winners today and many of their colleagues demonstrated their great commitment to educating everyone through their excellent presentation of environmental issues in the Egyptian media. The German ambassador expressed his happiness to continue the excellent cooperation in the discussion events organized by the Cairo Climate Change Forum with German and Egyptian partners.

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century, and therefore a key foreign policy issue. Germany is working globally to make climate policy the focus of international relations and working with its partners to implement the Paris climate agreement.
Creating a German-Egyptian Platform
With the launch of the Cairo Climate Change Forum in 2011, a German-Egyptian platform was established to exchange views on current environmental and climate protection issues as a front and forum for dialogue between researchers, government representatives, the private sector and civil society, the Cairo Climate Change Forum contributes to promoting awareness of environmental issues.
