Zig Zag Dance will be in Cairo in the first week of September to participate in the "Shattered Postcards" at the 32nd Cairo International Festival of Experimental Theatre, which will be held in Cairo from September 1 to 8, 2025.
Broken Postcards explores the Asturian migration to America between 1840 and 1940, a phenomenon that changed families and communities, especially from the perspective of women, which has not been much explored to date. The play will be screened at the Hanager Theatre at the Egyptian Opera House in Cairo on September 6-7 at 8pm. Entry is free. The band will also present a workshop to the audience interested in the festival.
Since its founding in 2000, Zig Zag Dance has been exploring areas that combine movement and theatre, building a unique creative world, where light, sound space and theatrical space share a starring role with body language. Under the direction of show designer Istria Garcاa, the band has about twenty independent and co-productions, aimed at both family and adult audiences.
Cairo International Experimental Theatre Festival is an event aimed at promoting communication and dialogue between different theater communities and is one of the oldest international festivals specialized in presenting experimental theater performances from around the world. The festival will honor many international figures interested in experimental theatre arts and will award prizes for the best performances in various theatre fields. In addition, several specialized seminars will be held.
