A few days ago, among the activities of the Conference of Medical Trade Unions 2026, the session on therapeutic tourism was launched to discuss opportunities for Egypt to be transformed into a leading regional and global destination in this area, and to review ways to benefit from the medical and tourism features of the Egyptian State.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Mustafa, a member of the General Union of Doctors, Secretary of the Meeting and Rapporteur of the Conference, confirmed that Egypt possessed all the qualities it qualified to be at the forefront of therapeutic tourism pilot States, noting that many States had achieved significant successes in the sector despite having fewer resources and possibilities, less efficient medical personnel, as well as natural, historical and tourist components that were not comparable to what Egypt enjoyed.
Egypt had been late in optimizing its investment, but the growing interest of political leadership in developing that sector represented a real opportunity to launch, which had led the Physicians ' Association to devote a specialized meeting to discussing therapeutic tourism profile with the participation of various stakeholders, with a view to opening new prospects for cooperation and developing a common vision for the promotion of that vital sector.
He pointed out that remedial tourism deserved to be transformed into a national project, as it represented a strategic opportunity to maximize the State ' s foreign exchange resources, emphasizing that the sector was able to generate substantial economic returns if it was exploited by an integrated vision based on the quality of medical services, infrastructure and international marketing.
He stressed that the achievement of that goal required all State institutions, including the health sector, the doctors ' trade union, relevant government agencies, the tourism sector and the media, to intensify the culture of curative tourism and to strengthen Egypt ' s position as a global provider of high-quality medical services.
