The Chargé d ' affaires of the United States of America, Robert Silverman, conducted his first official visit to Alexandria City on 7 and 8 June, with a view to strengthening economic and cultural ties between the United States and the peoples of the United States AlexandriaEgypt ' s second largest town in terms of population, which exceeds 6 million people, and the largest port in the country, and Sylverman accompanied his wife, Ms. Yong-mi Silverman, along with a high-level delegation from the United States Embassy in Cairo.
Strategic partnership for port development and increased trade
The visit included an extended bilateral meeting with the Governor of Alexandria, engineer Ayman Attiya, where the two sides discussed opportunities to enhance joint cooperation to increase the volume of trade and investment with the United States during the next phase.
The discussions also focused on supporting port development efforts in Egypt and building on United States experiences in upgrading logistics and maritime transport, in line with the status of Alexandria as the country ' s largest vital port.

At the investment level, the Chargé d ' affaires participated in the opening ceremony of the major expansion of the Cocacola Mobilization Plant in Alexandria, reflecting the confidence of American companies in the climate of Egyptian investment and promising opportunities in the city.
As part of the promotion of cultural and cognitive communication, Silverman signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the United States Government to formalize an American pillar hosted by the Amedeste Educational Foundation at its headquarters in Alexandria; the American pillar is a library and an information centre open to the public, with United States staff working with it and reflecting the commitment of the United States to communicate directly with the population of Alexandria and support educational initiatives.

Cultural tours and meetings with religious leaders and city institutions
During his visit, the Chargé d ' affaires met with a number of religious leaders representing different religious communities in the city to consolidate the values of the dialogue, and the Committee also included visiting the Greek Roman museum and the ancient Alexandria Library, one of the most prominent cultural institutions with long-standing cooperation and partnership with the United States Government in the areas of preservation of heritage and knowledge exchange.
