As part of the Egyptian State ' s drive to promote innovation and to link scientific research to sustainable economic development, the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology, in collaboration with the Centre for Agricultural Research, the Bioversity International CIAT Alliance and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, co-organized a high-level consultation workshop for the AgriTech4 project: Technological Innovation in Agri-food Sector in Egypt, held in Cairo, which was marked by the formal launch of a project that is one of the leading initiative of agricultural innovation.
The workshop was widely attended by representatives of government agencies, research institutions, universities, the private sector, emerging companies and international organizations, in the presence of Professor Medouah Medouah, the Chargé d ' affaires of the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Professor Dr. Adel Abdelaziz, Chairman of the Centre for Agricultural Research, Mr. Juan Lucas Restrebo, Director-General of the Bioversity International CIAT, Ms. Stephanie Sté Speck, World Director of Strategic Partnerships and Network, Mr.
The project is part of the joint cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Italian Republic to support innovation and entrepreneurial leadership in the agriculture and food sector, whose implementation extends over three years and aims to promote technology transfer, develop and adopt research-based agricultural solutions, thereby contributing to the efficiency of agricultural production, the improvement of value chains, the promotion of food security and sustainable development.
Through three annual innovation competitions, the project aims to support 105 emerging companies and innovative teams, engage over 350 innovative and researchers, and reach over 200,000 farmers throughout the Republic through practical technological solutions that address the needs of farmers and meet the challenges associated with climate change and resource scarcity.
Dr. Mumduha Ma ' aida, acting as Chair of the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology, stressed that the project was a practical model for maximizing the use of scientific research outputs and converting them into innovative and marketable applications and solutions, noting that the Academy prioritized support for the innovation system, business leadership and enhanced linkages between researchers, industry and the private sector.
وأضاف أن مشروع AgriTech4Egypt يتماشى مع مستهدفات رؤية مصر 2030 والاستراتيجية الوطنية للتعليم العالي والبحث العلمي، من خلال دعم الاقتصاد القائم على المعرفة، وتشجيع الابتكار التكنولوجي، وتحفيز الشركات الناشئة على تطوير حلول قادرة على إحداث أثر اقتصادي ومجتمعي ملموس.
وقد أسفرت المناقشات التي شهدتها الورشة عن عدد من المخرجات المهمة، من أبرزها تحديد التحديات والفرص المرتبطة بمنظومة الابتكار الزراعي في مصر، ورسم خريطة أكثر وضوحًا للجهات الفاعلة وبرامج الدعم القائمة، بالإضافة إلى طرح توصيات لتعزيز نقل التكنولوجيا وتسويق مخرجات البحث العلمي، وتطوير آليات تمويل مبتكرة تتناسب مع طبيعة الشركات الناشئة العاملة في القطاع الزراعي، فضلًا عن التأكيد على أهمية توفير منظومة دعم متكاملة تساعد رواد الأعمال على النفاذ إلى الأسواق والتعامل مع المتطلبات التنظيمية المختلفة.
كما شهدت الورشة تعزيز فرص التعاون بين مؤسسات البحث العلمي والقطاع الخاص والمستثمرين والشركاء الدوليين، بما يدعم بناء شراكات جديدة تسهم في تسريع تبني الابتكارات الزراعية وتحويلها إلى منتجات وخدمات ذات أثر تنموي واقتصادي.
ومن المقرر أن يتم خلال المرحلة المقبلة إعداد تقرير استراتيجي وإطار تنفيذي متكامل للمشروع يستند إلى نتائج ومخرجات الورشة، إلى جانب تنظيم لقاءات تشاورية إضافية في عدد من المحافظات المصرية، بهدف إشراك المزارعين والفاعلين في سلاسل القيمة الزراعية في تصميم وتنفيذ الأنشطة المستقبلية للمشروع بما يضمن الاستجابة للاحتياجات الفعلية على أرض الواقع.
ويُنفذ مشروع AgriTech4Egypt بتمويل من وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي الإيطالية، وبدعم من الوكالة الإيطالية للتعاون الإنمائي، ويقوده تحالف Bioversity International & CIAT من خلال منصة CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform، بالشراكة مع أكاديمية البحث العلمي والتكنولوجيا ومركز البحوث الزراعية، وبرعاية وزارتي الزراعة واستصلاح الأراضي والتعليم العالي والبحث العلمي.
ويعكس المشروع التزام أكاديمية البحث العلمي والتكنولوجيا بدعم المبادرات الدولية التي تعزز نقل التكنولوجيا، وتربط البحث العلمي بالاحتياجات التنموية، وتسهم في بناء اقتصاد أكثر قدرة على الابتكار والاستدامة، بما يعزز مكانة مصر كمركز إقليمي للمعرفة والابتكار في المنطقة.
