Regional Congress of the Gulf of Volbright, Cairo, celebrates the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America and promotes cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa region

In cooperation with the United States Embassy in Cairo, the PFCE hosted the regional congress of the Volbright graduate under the title «Education, innovation and business leadership in the age of artificial intelligence» From 7 to 9 June, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.
The Conference highlighted how American synthetic intelligence techniques and associated norms and organizational models contribute to the promotion of innovation and development in the areas of education, scientific research, government actions and management, both in Egypt and in the Middle East and North Africa region and worldwide.
Sixty-one Fulbright graduates from the Middle East and North Africa region who had previously studied and trained in the United States made presentations on the transformational potential of American artificial intelligence as a catalyst for development, along with its wide impact in many sectors. The Conference concluded by discussing the prospects for future cooperation between the United States and the States of the Middle East and North Africa region in the field of artificial intelligence.

 

Marwa Abbas, Director-General and North-East African Technology Commander, IBM, gave the keynote address to the Conference, reviewing United States investments in artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa region. «Over the course of my career, I have seen that the most successful development and change processes are not driven by technology alone, but are led by people who are willing to learn, adapt, innovate, develop and adopt change, so education and skills development are among the most important issues of our time.»I'm sorry.

Robin Hartunyan, acting as Deputy Head of Mission of the United States Embassy in Cairo and Secretary of the Fund of the Volbright Bilateral Governing Council of Egypt, said, speaking on the strong partnership embodied in the Volbright programme: «The Volbright programme has been in Egypt for over 75 years, a privileged partnership with positive results for the peoples of Egypt and the United States, and today we stand for a promising and full-time moment, and with continued artificial intelligence in the restructuring of education, health care and work, our task is to ensure that these tools contribute to expanding opportunities, strengthening institutions and assisting individuals in finding practical solutions to real problems.»I'm sorry.

For its part, Carrie Grievs, the Middle East Programme Officer of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, stressed the strategic importance of the programme, noting that the Volbright programme «Building reliable global and regional networks that contribute to the drive of innovation, economic growth and enhanced security»I'm sorry.

In his address, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities and a member of the Board of Directors of the Volbright Bilateral Authority of Egypt stressed the importance of the event by stating: «This effectiveness is particularly important to coincide with the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, an opportunity to reflect on the well-established values of education, innovation, international cooperation and the pursuit of knowledge.»I'm sorry.

The Fulbright Group in Egypt, led by Dr. Maggie Nasif, Executive Director of UN-Women, welcomed the Volbright graduates from 11 Arab States, as well as selected representatives of academia, the public and private sectors and government agencies. In her statement, Dr. Nasif welcomed the presence in Umm Al-Mut-Egypt, noting that such a gathering met with American contributions to science and innovation and reflected the United States investment in the development of young talents in the Middle East region.
The Faulbright bilateral body of Egypt, established in 1949, is the oldest and largest Volbright programme in the Middle East and North Africa region, providing opportunities for academic exchange for more than 8,000 students and Egyptian and American researchers, making it one of the main pillars of bilateral relations between Egypt and the United States.
