The Medical Association extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the Senate who discussed the draft law on the organization of university hospitals, and made fundamental observations on a number of shortcomings and legislative terms contained in the draft, which are the same points that the Union warned of in its statement issued in this regard, based on its professional and national responsibility towards the health system and medical services.
The Syndicate appreciates the clear interest shown by a number of members to listen to the opinion of the Medical Syndicate as the legal and professional representative of doctors in Egypt, and one of the original parties concerned with any legislation affecting the medical work environment and the health service provided to citizens, and the government's commitment to discuss the Syndicate in the amendments related to the draft law.
The union emphasizes that its role is not limited to regulating the affairs of the profession in a narrow sense, but extends in its constitutional and societal nature to protect the rights of doctors, ensure the quality and safety of medical service, and maintain the efficiency and stability of the working environment within health institutions, especially university hospitals, which are the main pillar of the health system and medical education in Egypt.
The Medical Syndicate also stresses that the adoption of its opinion on such laws is not a formality or courtesy, but a constitutional and professional entitlement that ensures the issuance of more accurate and realistic legislation, and the health system avoids any practical problems that may result from ignoring the opinions of experts and specialists.
The Medical Association renews its full readiness to cooperate and provide its vision and technical and legislative observations with all transparency, in the interest of patients and doctors, and preserves the vital role of university hospitals and enhances confidence in health policies and legislations governing them.
