The Giza Criminal Court has ruled in a controversial case where a worker was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labor after being accused of killing a homeless person with a stone in an unintended incident. This verdict was the result of developments that led to tension between the accused and the victim, especially after the latter attacked the accused's sister while she was alone in the house.

The sentencing session was chaired by the advisor Wael Farouk Ismail, in which the advisors Samir Salahuddin Mohammed and Ahmed Abdel Ati El Shafei participated, and the deputy public prosecutor Hani Majid Al Said was present during the proceedings, accompanied by the staff of the Secretariat.
Details of the case made it clear that the victim, Muhammad«H»Separated from his wife, he found no shelter and lived on the street, where he took the roof of the defendant’s family home to his place. When she opened the door for him, he tried to enter the apartment, which frightened her and led to her screaming, prompting him to flee. The sister then reported the incident to her brother, who threw the victim’s bed into the street.
When the victim returned and found his bed lying outside, a dispute arose between him and the accused, which developed into an altercation and stone-throwing between the two parties. Due to a stone shot from the accused, the victim was seriously injured leading to internal bleeding and a skull fracture.

Some time after the accident, the victim died of his injuries. The accused apologized after the incident and expressed his willingness to be allowed to return home for an overnight stay. But the end was tragic, raising many questions about how to deal with homelessness and community violence.
