
The German Embassy in Cairo celebrated German Unity Day, which is the national day of the Federal Republic of Germany, in the presence of a large elite of official, diplomatic and cultural figures.
This year’s celebration coincided with the 100th anniversary of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the 65th anniversary of its presence in Egypt.

The German ambassador in Cairo, Jورrgen Schulz, stressed the depth of the partnership between Egypt and Germany in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education and science, pointing to the opening of the first school within the initiative of "100 Egyptian-German schools", and the presence of more than 18,000 students in German-Egyptian universities, in addition to close cooperation in the fields of development and economy.

Historic Friendship
For his part, the Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, guest of honor of the ceremony, stressed the historical friendship between the two countries, stressing that culture, arts and music are able to build bridges beyond political differences and unite peoples.

Dr. Michael Harms, Deputy Secretary General of the German Academic Exchange Service, praised the role of academic exchange in supporting generations of young people in Germany, Egypt and the world, expressing his aspiration for further cooperation in the future.
The ceremony concluded by thanking all the guests and partners who contributed to the success of the event, in a letter reaffirming the strength of the Egyptian-German friendship.
