In a remarkable medical achievement that reflects the leadership of Egyptian competencies in the medical field, an Egyptian medical team specialized in the implementation of the first liver transplant program in the Republic of Yemen, at the University of Science and Technology Hospital in Sana’a, in a first of its kind in the country.

The Egyptian team, in cooperation with Yemeni medical staff, conducted five successful liver transplants, representing a qualitative leap in the process of localization of microsurgery and the development of specialized medical services inside Yemen.
The announcement was made during an official ceremony attended by senior officials, as well as health and executive leaders and hospital officials.

The Egyptian team included Prof. Dr. Hossam Soliman, Professor of Liver Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Tabbakh, Professor and Consultant of Liver Transplantation, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Prof. Dr. Islam Ayoub, Prof. Dr. Imad Kamel, Dr. Mohamed Samy Abdel Wahid, Dr. Mohamed Blabel and Dr. Mohamed Mahrous.

The ceremony honored the Egyptian and Yemeni medical teams in recognition of their efforts to achieve this achievement, which represents an advanced step towards strengthening the capacities of the Yemeni health sector and consolidating Arab medical partnerships in the specialized fields.
