The General Union of Doctors held a workshop to discuss the Law on the Regulation of Labour at University Hospitals and amendments to the Senate, in the presence of a number of doctors, medical college professors and legal professionals, in the framework of the Union ' s efforts to open an expanded professional dialogue on draft laws relating to the health system and medical education.
The workshop discussed the most notable proposed amendments to the law and heard views and observations of attendance, thus contributing to the development of an integrated vision that supports the development of university hospitals and enhances the quality of medical and educational services provided.
The union confirmed that the recommendations of the workshop would be drafted and a detailed memorandum prepared in preparation for transmission to the Senate and the various parliamentary bodies of the Council.
During the discussions, it was emphasized that the re-licensing of university hospitals every five years was unacceptable and not universally applicable, emphasizing the need to separate the licence from accreditation, since the authorization of a legal permit to start operation, evaluate quality and ensure that citizens were provided with adequate health services was the responsibility of the accreditation authorities.
It was also stressed that reconciling the construction or architectural conditions of old hospitals was practically impossible, and reconciling the conditions of old hospitals must be in terms of medical and technical equipment that kept pace with recent developments in medical services.
