The meeting was attended by Khaled Al Balshi, President of Journalists and Jamal Abdul Rahim, Secretary General of the Syndicate, Hisham Younis, Treasurer, Abdul Raouf Khalifa, Deputy of the Syndicate, Mohammed Al Shazli, Chairman of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, and a number of members of the General Assembly.
This came in coordination with the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, headed by Mohamed El Shazly, in the framework of discussing ways to support and develop the capabilities of Egyptian journalists, which contributes to enhancing professionalism and raising the efficiency of journalistic work, through training workshops and free language courses for journalists. In addition, it will include annual competitions offering incentive awards and internships at external institutions.
For his part, Khalid Al Balshi, Chairman of Journalists, welcomed the visit of Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, head of the European Union delegation, stressing that this visit represents an important step in the framework of discussing ways to enhance the professional capabilities of journalists and support training and rehabilitation programs within the union, pointing out that this meeting comes for the second time as part of the keenness to provide information and support the capabilities of journalists.
Mohamed El Shazly, Chairman of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, said that this visit is in line with the new strategy of the Committee, which seeks to establish opportunities for cooperation with various institutions to provide more support to journalists, pointing out that this comes within the framework of the efforts of the Syndicate to explore new horizons for cooperation with international institutions to develop professional skills.
Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst stressed that this cooperation is a historic initiative to support the strong role of the Syndicate by enhancing the skills and resources available to journalists in Egypt, adding: "Through targeted training programs and knowledge sharing between European and Egyptian media, this cooperation seeks to address contemporary challenges faced by journalists such as digital transformation, misinformation and lack of resources."
Ambassador Eichhorst added: "The EU’s work in Egypt focuses on people-to-people communication, skills development and improving journalistic competence in the rapidly evolving media landscape."
