
The meetings between Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and his Greek counterpart on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York were a clear confirmation of the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries. Madbouly showed great interest in strengthening the strategic partnership with Greece, which is an example of bilateral cooperation.
Madbouly said that the electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece (GREGY) represents an important step in the development of economic relations and is an ideal opportunity to expand cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, especially as the two countries move towards natural gas and green hydrogen, as well as technology and innovation.
Strengthening business relationships
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen trade relations and the importance of exploiting opportunities to boost trade exchange, as well as addressing the phenomenon of illegal migration through effective coordination.
Madbouly welcomed the Greek efforts in strengthening Egypt’s relations with the European Union, stressing that his country looks forward to continued cooperation in various fields, including agriculture, construction, tourism, in addition to implementing an agreement on the employment of Egyptian seasonal workers in Greece.
