New Statistics for Financial Inclusion

Arab Finance: The Central Bank recently launched the most important indicators that reflect the progress of financial inclusion in Egypt, where the data showed that the number of individuals with active financial accounts reached 53.8 million citizens by the end of June 2025. This percentage represents 76.3% of the total adult population (15 years and older) of 70.5 million, indicating a significant increase compared to 74.8% in December 2024.

Financial inclusion among young people is also on the rise, rising to 54.4% in June 2025 from 53.1% in December 2024. These improvements are due to policies adopted by the Central Bank, such as allowing young people to open bank accounts from the age of 15.

Overall, financial inclusion grew by 214% from 2016 to June 2025, reflecting citizens’ increased access to available financial services.

It should be noted that the strategy of the Central Bank of Egypt for the period from 2022 to 2025 is based on clear scientific bases aimed at measuring the rates of financial inclusion at the level of the Republic, in terms of availability, use and quality of financial services provided.

This strategy is based on several main axes, including the diversification of financial products and services to suit the needs of all segments of society, in addition to the creation of a legislative and regulatory environment that ensures the integration of all segments of society under the formal financial system.
