At its last meeting, the Bank ' s Monetary Policy Committee had decided to reduce the base rate of return by 100 base points. Accordingly, the rates of one-night deposit and loan returns had been reduced and the main Central Bank operation to 19.0%, 20.0% and 19.5% respectively, and the credit and discount rate had been reduced to 19.5%.
The Central Bank of Egypt has revealed that the rate of monthly change in the basic consumer price index recorded 3.0% in February 2026, compared with 1.6% in February 2025 and 1.2% in January 2026.

On an annual basis, the base rate of inflation recorded 12.7% in February 2026 compared to 11.2% in January 2026, according to the Central Bank report.
The rate of monthly change in the General Urban Consumer Price Index, announced by the Central Public Mobilization and Statistics Authority, was 2.8% in February 2026, compared to 1.4% in February 2025 and 1.2% in January 2026.
