We publish the biography of Dr. Amina Helmy, member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a decision No. 733 of 2025 to form the Board of Directors of the Central Bank under the chairmanship of Hassan Abdullah, acting governor of the Central Bank, from November 27 for a year.
The formation included 3 new members, banking expert, Khalid Ahmed Fouad, economist Ahmed Gad Gad, and Amina Amin Helmy, an economist.

The formation included the membership of Rami Abul-Naga, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Tariq Al-Kholy, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, and Mohammed Farid, Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Financial Supervision, and included the formation of Ali Fermaw, technology expert and Sharif Hussein Kamel Mohammed, financial expert, Assam Mohammed Abdulhadi Amer, accounting and financial expert, and Khalid Ibrahim Saqr Ali, economist.
Dr. Umniah Amin Helmy is currently the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science for Graduate Studies and Research, Cairo University.

Prof. Dr. Umniah Helmy served as Visiting Professor at the University of Barcelona in Spain, Associate Professor at George Mason University in the United States, Acting Executive Director and Research Director at the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies.
She is also a member of the Academy of Scientific Research, the Society for Economics, Statistics and Legislation, and the Economic Research Forum. She has researched European direct investments in Egypt, foreign portfolio investments in Egypt, the development of minimum wage policy in Egypt, the efficiency and fairness of subsidy policy, pension and social security systems, and the impact of the state budget deficit on inflation in Egypt.

She also participated in several studies for the Ministries of Industry, Trade and Supply, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the World Trade Organization. Prof. Dr. Umniah Helmy holds a PhD in Economics from Cairo University.

She also has research interests in international trade in goods and services - investment - financial policy - (pension system - wage policy - support systems).
