Ready to open officially? Minister of Social Solidarity and Governor of South Sinai inspect the Heritage Village in Sharm El Sheikh

Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, accompanied by Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, inspected the heritage village in Sharm El Sheikh to see the readiness of the village in preparation for its official opening.

The heritage village assigned to the NGO Projects Support Fund includes four main areas with integrated services and infrastructure, including the craft workshop area, which includes 10 specialized workshops to manufacture heritage and handicraft products such as Bedouin works, copper, pottery, fronds and embroidered fabrics, in order to preserve traditional crafts and train new generations.

The village also has administrative offices, a mosque, warehouses, a lecture hall, public baths, and a visitor service unit, to provide an integrated working environment and organization within the village.

It includes an open-air theater, a Bedouin restaurant, open gardens, longitudinal and transverse walks, and art murals that reflect the Sinaitic culture and the distinctive environmental character of the area.

Diarna’s exhibition area includes a main exhibition hall and a multi-purpose hall to display art and heritage products inspired by the Sinai environment, allowing visitors and tourists to see the local heritage and acquire original artifacts.

On the sidelines of the visit to the heritage village, the Minister of Social Solidarity and the Governor of South Sinai inspected the activities of the exhibition "Dyarna Heritage Crafts", which is held for the first time within the governorate and witnessed the great participation of Sinaian women and a number of other governorates, as well as the wing of the Fund to support rural and environmental industries, and the National Council for Women.

Dr. Maya Morsi and Major General Dr. Khalid Mubarak were keen to inspect the corridors of the exhibition, which includes various traditional Sinai products, as well as other heritage and handmade products from Arabesque and copper and glass works, as well as home decoration, fashion and accessories.

The Minister of Social Solidarity stressed that the heritage village will be a unique cultural and tourist destination that allows tourists and visitors to learn about Sinai heritage and Bedouin customs and traditions, in addition to supporting craftsmen and shop owners from the people of the province by providing sustainable employment opportunities and encouraging local heritage industries.

Dr. Morsi explained that the ministry supports productive families and aims to develop the economic resources of the family by exploiting the energies and capabilities of its members by exploiting environmental and domestic industries and improving their conditions through care and guidance to meet the variables of economic and social conditions.

The Minister of Social Solidarity said that the exhibition «Diyaruna Handicrafts» It is a marketing outlet that includes premium products for productive families, and aims to enable innovators to reach new markets and achieve direct sales opportunities.

For his part, Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, said that the governorate provides all support to the heritage village in Sharm El Sheikh and to the Bedouin heritage keepers in South Sinai within the framework of the state strategy to preserve the Sinai identity, support small projects and handicrafts, and integrate the cultural dimension in the comprehensive development system witnessed by the governorate.

He pointed out that the heritage village represents a qualitative addition to the tourist and cultural structure of Sharm El Sheikh, where it combines authentic heritage and modern development, to be a permanent destination for visitors and tourists from different countries of the world, and a center for marketing Sinai products locally and internationally.
He explained that the project embodies the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the need to maximize the use of the unique heritage and environmental features of Sinai, and turn it into a permanent source of income and employment opportunities, to enhance the quality of life for the people of the province and contribute to sustainable development.
